Why checking sponsorship status matters

If you need a Skilled Worker Visa to work in the UK, you can only accept a job offer from an employer that holds a sponsor licence. Without it, the employer cannot issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), and without a CoS, the Home Office will not grant your visa.

The problem is that most job boards do not filter by sponsorship status. Candidates spend hours writing applications, attending interviews, and sometimes even receiving verbal offers, only to discover at the final stage that the employer is not on the register.

The Hiredge Sponsor Checker lets you verify an employer in seconds, before you invest time in an application. We sync the Home Office register every Monday so results are based on the latest data available.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Home Office Register of Licensed Sponsors?

The Register of Licensed Sponsors is the official list of UK employers authorised by the Home Office to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS). You must have a CoS from a licensed sponsor to apply for a Skilled Worker Visa.

How do I check if a UK employer can sponsor my visa?

Use the search tool above. Type the employer name and click Check. We search the Home Office register and show you the result within seconds.

What if I cannot find the employer?

Try a shorter version of the employer name. Some organisations are registered under a parent company or different trading name. For example, search NHS rather than the full trust name, or KPMG rather than KPMG UK LLP.

How often is the register updated?

The Home Office updates the register regularly. Hiredge syncs its copy every Monday at 06:00 UTC. Always confirm with the employer directly before accepting an offer.

Can I get job alerts filtered to sponsored employers only?

Yes. Set up a Hiredge Job Alert and tick the Visa Sponsorship Required checkbox. We will only send you roles from employers on the register.

Important:Sponsorship status is based on the Home Office register at the time of our last sync. Always confirm an employer's current licensing status directly before applying. Hiredge is not responsible for any changes to employer licensing that occur between sync cycles.
